German Verbs with Prepositions
Learn the most common verb + preposition pairs with their case, and use worauf, darauf and auf ihn correctly.
Many German verbs come with a fixed preposition, and it's often not the one English would use: you wait on something (warten auf).
Learn each verb as a set of three: verb, preposition and case.
The preposition belongs to the verb
The preposition is fixed and decides the case of the noun after it. With auf and über in these combinations, the case is almost always accusative.
Ich warte seit zehn Minuten auf den Bus.
I've been waiting for the bus for ten minutes.
Sie denkt oft an ihre Kindheit.
She often thinks about her childhood.
