German Accusative Prepositions
Memorise the five accusative prepositions, use den, einen and mich/dich after them, and handle bis and entlang.
A small group of prepositions always takes the accusative. Learn them as one list and you'll never have to think about the case after them.
Since only masculine articles and some pronouns change in the accusative, the mistakes to avoid are few and easy to spot.

Questions learners ask
What's a trick to remember the accusative prepositions?
Use DOGFU: durch, ohne, gegen, für, um. Add bis and entlang for the full list.
Is entlang accusative or dative?
After the noun it takes the accusative: den Fluss entlang. Before the noun it takes the genitive or dative, which is much rarer.
Do accusative prepositions contract with das?
Yes: durchs, fürs and ums are normal in speech and informal writing. In formal texts, the full forms are safer.
